Do you remember all of the unanswered questions you had the year before you came to college, that no one seemed to be able to answer: Which university has the most friendly students? Which university has the best dorms?
Help visiting students decide which university to attend and realize that the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Grainger College of Engineering is their future home by becoming a WIE ambassador!
WIE Ambassadors are current students that:
- exhibit a commitment to excellence and leadership both in and outside the classroom
- love to speak to prospective students about the opportunities available to Grainger engineers.
Women in Engineering has over 50 WIE Ambassadors each year! Past Ambassadors have commented that in addition to helping visiting students during WIE events, they are also improving their own personal skills. One Ambassador noted, “Participating in the WIE Ambassador program and speaking with prospective women students and their families has really helped me improve my interviewing and presenting skills… Having the exposure to speak with a wide variety of people on topics that I know well and also topics that I am not familiar with at all is excellent practice for fielding questions in a job interview or during a presentation.”
