Meet the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Mentors!

Olivia Klein (Lead Mentor)

Hi! My name is Olivia, and I will be a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Technology and Management. This summer I will be a Clinical Trials Operations Intern for AbbVie. Currently, I am an Undergraduate Student Researcher for Abbott at Research Park. On campus, I am involved in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Greek Life. In my free time, I love to cook, work out, and spend time with my friends. I am so excited to be a WIE Orientation mentor again, and I can’t wait to meet all of you in the fall!

Emma Baunach

Hi! I’m Emma and I am going into my senior year in Chemical Engineering. This summer I’m working as a Regulatory Compliance Intern at an ingredient distribution company. On campus, I am a member of LAS (Liberal Arts and Sciences) Leaders and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Within SWE, I have served as a chair on the Outreach Committee and am involved with Team Tech. I am also very excited to be an ELA for ENG 100, a course all of you will take this fall. With my free time I like to knit and listen to music. My time at Illinois has been awesome and I can’t wait for you to start your journey!

Claudia Cappa

Hii! My name is Claudia, and I am going to be a senior in Chemical Engineering with a minor in business. This summer I did a consulting internship in Chicago with West Monroe Partners for their Energy and Utilities practice. On campus, I am involved in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Greek Life, and club gymnastics. If I’m not at Noyes, you can either find me on a leisure walk around campus or hanging out with friends. I am so excited to be your mentor at orientation this year because WIE gave me the best group of girls that I can always count on. I can’t wait to meet you in August!

Valeriia Lytvak

Heey! My name is Valeriia Lytvak, and I’ll be a junior in chemical engineering. I’ll be working as an intern at the Elanco Animal Pharmaceutical plant in Clinton, Indiana, this summer as an Engineering Intern. Besides that, I’ve been involved in the Society of Women Engineers holding multiple positions on the Fundraising Committee. I am also a part of the TNB Dance Team as an event director which is my passion outside of the academic setting. In my free time, I love reading romance and fantasy (the cheesier, the better), swimming, and sleeping with my cat. I still talk to many people I met at my WIE orientation, and I’m excited to meet more upcoming engineers this August!

Sydney Nelson

Hi! My name is Sydney Nelson, and I am going to be a sophomore in chemical and biomolecular engineering. I am involved in some campus organizations like the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Cru Campus Ministry. I love watching sports, hanging out with friends, and exploring campus. I am excited to meet everyone in August and get to know you better!
