About

WIE’s focus on the University of Illinois campus is to provide equity in access and experiences for all interested in studying at The Grainger College of Engineering.  The Women in Engineering (WIE) program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Grainger College of Engineering was established in 1993 as an effort to provide support to students as they build community in engineering.

To achieve these goals, WIE offers or supports these programs: engineering summer camps for high school students through the WYSE program, orientation camps for all first-year women engineering students, mentoring and leadership elective courses, personalized academic and professional success meetings, and professional development workshops including leadership training to provide personal skill development and career preparation for current students.

Timeline of WIE at Illinois, beginning in 1827 with the land-grant institution of the University of Illinois through 2018, when women students enrolled in the college of engineering reached more than 22%.
