WIE – GFX Projects Scholar

As a WIE-GFX Projects Scholar, you will work in small teams on real engineering projects led by experienced staff of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champign’s Grainger College of Engineering.

You and your cohort of fellow scholars will begin this 2-credit hour course in week 6 of the fall semester.  Together, you will learn problem-solving strategies and build skills in group formation, project management, communication, and teamwork. The subject of the projects will help you explore your interests and aspirations. Projects may be of your own creation or chosen from an instructor prepared list.

At the end of the fall semester, all project teams will display their work at the GFX Expo celebration to highlight the innovative project work completed by freshman students during GFX elective course work.

In the spring semester, you will continue your project work through collaboration with the Siebel Design Center.  Additionally, throughout both semesters, the cohort of WIE-GFX Project Scholars will be brought together for monthly meetings to debrief on project work and experiences.
