I chose Illinois because it is a top-ranked institution in two of my main interests: physics and computer science. I decided to major in Eng Phys because I can pursue both of my interests and I’ve always enjoyed learning about why things behave the way they do and telling a computer what to do through code. The physics department at The Grainger College of Engineering has made me feel like family – the faculty and teaching assistants are very welcoming, humble and friendly. My goal is to do research in areas that can improve the world. I am particularly passionate about finding a vaccine for HIV. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a PhD in Statistics or Physics.
