Shruti Chanumolu (Transferred from City University of Hong Kong)

I chose to transfer to Illinois because it is one of the top engineering colleges with a wide range of research areas. EE at The Grainger College of Engineering touches many diverse research areas from bioimaging to signal processing to nanotechnology, there is something in this department for everyone. EE  incorporates knowledge from other majors like computer and mechanical engineering and seeing how these concepts work together allows me to experience many different subjects to find my specific interests. As an international student, the diverse and friendly culture at Illinois makes it easy to adapt to life and academics in a different country. As for my future, I plan to attend graduate school so that I can become a professor specializing in machine learning and AI.
