I had many mentors growing up that encouraged me to pursue engineering, with one of my high school teachers inspiring me to pursue an energy focused field. Seeing my female role models working actively in STEM fields showed me that female engineers are more than capable of pursuing their dreams. I chose to study engineering physics to gain a broad base in exploring renewable energy solutions. When I visited campus, I knew that this would be the place for me. Beyond just my swimming team and the pool, Illinois had everything I wanted in a school. The variety of classes, dynamic majors, helpful faculty, and opportunities for development and exploration ultimately confirmed that Illinois is the place for me.
