Computer science was a great fit for me because I love logic puzzles and things that are very methodical. I also like to see the results of my work and with computer science that’s really easy because you can create fully formed projects like websites or games pretty quickly and you can actually see your work come to life. I have had multiple internships in college where I’ve used what I have learned here so far. In some of them, I have used language and tools that I’ve learned in class. I’ve also had to learn to use new languages and softwares. However, computer science classes at Illinois teach you the foundations of CS so that adapting to different languages is very quick and easy. I’m really interested in machine learning and big data. I think it is very cool that you can learn so many things from big data sets and you can even get the computer to learn things for you from data. I’m also interested in engineering and computer science education so I would like to pursue one of these in my career.
