Alison Dunn’s love of taking things apart and building new things, combined both her grandfathers’ backgrounds in engineering, led her to pursue mechanical engineering.
She spent two years in teaching English in China with the U.S. Peace Corps after earning her master’s degree. She then came to Illinois and started her Material Tribology Lab.
Dunn’s best advice for students is to set themselves apart from the status quo by always giving their homework their best effort and doing it well.
“Spend time on getting things right,” Dunn said. Visit her research lab website here.
