Marina Malone (Transferred from Loyola University)

I chose to transfer to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Grainger College of Engineering for the academic rigor and research opportunities. In middle school, I was fascinated with the robots from the Star Wars movies, I thought it was so neat how someone could create a robot to move by itself. This fascination with robotics led me to pursue CE. The coursework in CE covers many subjects related to robotics and artificial intelligence allowing me to pursue my interests. One of the best parts about the Grainger College of Engineering is that the student body is big enough to find your niche. I have found my community in student organizations that focus on building robots. In the future, I hope to be innovative in my field and gain both research and industry experience.
