Industrial engineering graduate Kathleen Hu created the platform Dibbs with the goal of reducing food waste and providing meals to people who are food-insecure.
Dibbs connects local grocery stores with food providers like soup kitchens and religious organizations. The platform provides the opportunity for grocery stores to donate consumable food that has been pulled from shelves due to cosmetic reasons or expiring shelf life.
Hu’s idea was inspired by a similarly minded platform she witnessed while on a gap semester in Paris.
“The company’s mission is ‘save food, do good’ and just to make an impact in this world when these problems are so big,” Hu said. Read more about Dibbs and watch the video here.
