I chose to study MatSE because I enjoy how versatile the major is and the idea that I can work towards optimizing everyday materials in my future. I chose the Grainger College of Engineering for its extremely inclusive and warm environment. One great resource at Illinois is Women in Engineering (WIE), which gives women engineering students the support and opportunities to get to know each other and network! My favorite thing that I have been involved with on campus so far has been an Intramural Kickball team with some friends in my major. Playing kickball has been a great way to exercise, spend time with friends, and practice some healthy competition!
