Elaine Ackles Chandler

Elaine Ackles Chandler is a theoretical physicist who currently works to apply management methods to focused research. She received a 2018 Distinguished Alumni award from the College of Engineering for developing strategic multidisciplinary and multi-investigator programs in the national interest.

Chandler earned her Ph.D. from Illinois in 1981 and began a career in developing science-based methods for accuracy and efficiency in applications from various fields.

She has been involved with undergrad projects in the physics department at Illinois and is now chair of the Physics Advisory Board. Read more about her career here.
